On 19th July, 2019, the award ceremony of International Bamboo Construction Competition 2019 was held at garden of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019, Beijing. Professor Xiao, director of Energy & Environment and Infrastructure Department, was invited as one of the main judge on behalf of Zhejiang University.

International Bamboo Construction Competition 2019 was organized by the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), and co-organized by Zhejiang University, ZJU-UIUC Institute, etc. A total of more than 150 teams from more than 30 countries registered in the this year’s competition. ZJUI sophomore Student Yiqi Feng, Kaihang Zhang, graduate student Junchao Zheng and research assistant Ke Ma also participated in the competition with enthusiasm. They presented a work of “Blossom” reflecting the structure and culture aspects of bamboo.

ZJUI Assistant Professor Dr. Demartino served as an organizational committee member and chaired the award ceremony.
