Ge Dingyuan, class of 2026 in Civil Engineering at ZJUI. His passion for the field took root in childhood, when he was captivated by the diverse bridges in his hometown Liuzhou, widely known as China’s "Bridge Museum". Amazed by how these structures balanced structural safety and artistic beauty, he set his heart on bridge design, which led him to choose civil engineering as his profession.

Throughout his university years, Ge Dingyuan has upheld a rigorous academic attitude and earned a string of prestigious honors, including the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship, Nandu Innovation Scholarship, and Zhejiang University Second-Class Scholarship, plus titles such as Academic Excellence Model Student and Outstanding Student of Zhejiang University. He has also won national and university-level academic competition awards, and served as a teaching assistant for multiple courses, solidifying his professional expertise while supporting peer growth.

Beyond the classroom, Ge Dingyuan has devoted himself to volunteer service, accumulating 266.3 service hours to date and earning the titles of Zhejiang University Five-Star Volunteer and Public Service Model Student. He has been a consistent presence in volunteer work, covering  open day tours, major ceremony logistics, and full-process support for the University’s admissions events.

A core part of his volunteer work is serving as a "bridge" between high school and university. He has received teachers and students from middle schools across the country, introducing ZJUI’s educational features and college life here in detail, and handled meticulous work from venue setup to on-site candidate guidance for admissions programs. For Ge Dingyuan, volunteering has not only brought him like-minded friends, but also deepened his understanding of responsibility and empathy.

The warmth Ge Dingyuan brings to volunteer work has extended to supporting his peers and junior students. This semester, he became a regular volunteer at the "Study Space", setting aside weekly hours to answer academic questions, break down complex concepts, and share his proven learning methods with others, hoping to help them avoid unnecessary detours in their studies. He has also served as a teaching assistant for multiple courses, grading assignments and providing one-on-one academic guidance. This role not only helped him consolidate his professional knowledge for future postgraduate studies, but also honed his communication and teaching skills.

From a young boy captivated by the bridges spanning the Liujiang River, to a well-rounded civil engineering student at ZJUI, Ge Dingyuan has built his youth on unwavering dedication, heartfelt kindness, and endless curiosity. Whether he is deepening his professional expertise in the classroom, lifting up his peers as a teaching assistant, devoting his time to volunteer service, or nurturing his passion for English writing, he has turned every step of his journey into something meaningful for both himself and those around him.

As he continues to chase his dream of bridge design, we wish him all the best in his future academic and career pursuits. He will pursue a master’s degree in structural engineering at Zhejiang University. May he keep building bridges, both in his engineering career and in connecting people with his warmth, and may every step ahead be filled with growth, joy, and extraordinary breakthroughs.
