This summer, the "Zhiyuan" Overseas Social Practice Team from the International Campus, Zhejiang University embarked on a trip to Indonesia and Italy. Centered on cross-border cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, Tang Chenyue, a 2024 Master’s student in Electronic Information, and Li Keyu, a 2023 Master’s student in Traffic and Transportation joined the on-the-ground exploration in Indonesia and Italy, diving into the opportunities and challenges that Chinese enterprises encounter in the global market.

Li Keyu's team conducted field research in Jakarta and Bandung, studying Chinese companies’ localization strategies. They visited the Indonesian subsidiaries of Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group, Shanghai Harbour Group, Shatan Group, Bangpu Recycling (a subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), HSBC Holdings plc, and had exchanges with representatives of local Chinese entrepreneurs on the investment environment, development prospects, and future trends of the Indonesian market.

“The cross-cultural practices during the research made me realize that the core of global competence lies in respecting cultural differences, strictly abiding by rules, and thereby achieving effective collaboration. Looking ahead, I aim to continue deepening my exploration in the fields of low-carbon logistics, intelligent transportation, and cross-cultural management and more effectively integrate Chinese wisdom and practical experience into the process of building a community with a shared future for mankind.” Li Keyu shared with us.

Tang Chenyue's team paid visits to the Associazione Nuova Generazione Italo-Cinese (ANGI) in Turin, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in Milan, and ZTE's Milan branch. During these visits, they gained insights into how Chinese enterprises establish a presence overseas and navigate cultural differences.

“During the practice, I learned that for computer technology to be successfully implemented in the European market, it not only needs strong technological capabilities as support but also must strictly meet local compliance requirements. This realization made me deeply aware that, as a graduate student in electronic information, solid professional knowledge is the foundation of my career. Equally indispensable is cultivating the awareness of rules, thus fostering continuous innovation.” Tang Chenyue told us.
