On May 15th-16th, Academician Lee Der-Horng, Dean of Zhejiang University-University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI), led a delegation to visit and exchange with Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co., Ltd., and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, and attended the signing and unveiling ceremony for the establishment of a student practice base by both parties. The strategic deployment of connectivity over land, maritime, air and cyberspace in Zhejiang Province, aiming to construct an integrated, three-dimensional, first-class multimodal transportation system, not only demonstrates forward-thinking strategic heights and advanced deployment but also effectively drives the restructuring of the industry ecosystem, capacity layout, and promotes regional collaborative innovation development and the creation of new quality productive forces. ZJUI focuses on in-depth academic research and technological innovation, possessing disciplines and leading advantages that support the development of a top-tier strong port. Through the signing of the agreement to establish a student practice base, both parties can engage in deep, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, and substantive cooperation focusing on student cultivation, research collaboration, and resource sharing.

Wang Zheng, General Manager of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, warmly welcomed Dean Lee and his delegation from ZJUI. According to the agreement, both university and enterprise will establish the student practice base together on the principle of complementary advantages, mutual benefits, mutual support and common development. Through job exercise, scientific & technological services and other forms of practice, the two sides will deeply promote the integration of industry and education, jointly implement the cultivation of innovative engineering and technological talents, and endeavor to provide new impetus for promoting regional and social development.
During the visit, Dean Lee Der-Horng and his delegation from ZJUI learned beneficial experiences from Zhejiang Four Port Linkage Development Co., Ltd.'s Ningbo branch on the construction and operation of the strategic deployment of connectivity over land, maritime, air and cyberspace in Zhejiang Province, visited the exhibition hall of Zhejiang Seaport Group headquarters to explore the group's history and development, and specifically visited Meishan Port Area and Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

In the future, both the university and enterprise will continuously strengthen their strategic cooperation in areas such as smart port logistics, multimodal transportation, smart grid, and green port, while jointly increasing the training efforts for interdisciplinary engineering intellectuals.
