On March 13, 2024, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Eaton visited the International Campus, Zhejiang University and had discussions and exchanges with the faculty and students at Zhejiang University-University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Institute (ZJUI) and the College of Electrical Engineering at Zhejiang University. Mr. Raja Macha, CTO and Executive Vice President of Eaton, Ms. Jenny Guo, Technical Vice President of Eaton Electric's Asia Pacific Division, Mr. Antonio, Global Technical Director of Eaton Research Institute, Calvin Zhang, Global Technical Director of Eaton Research Institute, Mr. Luo Cheng, Head of Eaton Research Institute, China, Academician Lee Der-Horng, Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Ma Hao, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Jin Wangping, Director of the Office of Scientific Research and Technology Transfer of the International Campus, Zhejiang University, Prof. Yang Qiang, Director of the International Research Center for Advanced Electrical Engineering, Prof. Zhang Junming, Director of the Department of Applied Electronics of the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University and staff from Eaton and more than 40 representatives of relevant faculty members and students attended the exchange. Academician Lee Der-Horng first warmly welcomed the visit of Eton's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and his delegation. He introduced the development history of the International Campus, Zhejiang University and ZJUI, as well as the outstanding achievements in teaching and research innovation. He stated that ZJUI has always emphasized practical learning, focused on cultivating students' innovation, creativity, and practical abilities, and actively collaborated with excellent companies in the industry for research and education. Eaton has always been a solid partner of Zhejiang University and ZJUI in student cultivation and research. Our cooperation has expanded from research to various aspects. At the same time, Academician Lee Der-Horng thanked Eaton for its strong support in research and education for the institute. In the future, he hopes that Eaton can continue to care about and support ZJUI, explore new models of mutually beneficial University-Enterprise cooperation in education, and jointly promote the development of the electrical industry and high-end student cultivation.

Mr. Antonio, Global Technical Director of Eaton Research Institute, introduced the development of Eaton Research Institute, and focused on the research cooperation of Eaton Research Institute's China team. In the past few years, the China team and the power electronics team from Zhejiang University have collaborated to solve a series of problems encountered in the development of medium voltage power conversion systems, achieving fruitful results, radiating technology to European and American teams, and ultimately giving back to Eaton customers. This success is inseparable from the strong support of the electrical team at Zhejiang University. He stated that the current cooperation is only the beginning, and we still have more new issues and a broader vision. He looks forward to further cooperation with Zhejiang University in various fields of electrical engineering such as power electronics and power systems and hopes that both sides can establish a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership, support each other, and achieve common development.

Assoc Prof. Li Chushan, Assistant Dean of ZJUI, introduced the comprehensive cooperation between Zhejiang University and Eaton in research and education, reviewed the nearly 20-year cooperation process between Eaton and Zhejiang University, and emphasized the current research cooperation between the two sides in the fields of medium voltage power converters, electrical drive systems, power device modeling, as well as the operation of collaborative education projects in student competition internship support, graduate scholarships, and other areas. He stated that in the future, cooperation in engineering design, engineering practice, and engineering applications will be further deepened, and innovative, applied, and composite future engineering leaders will be trained through University-Enterprise cooperation.
