On the afternoon of November 16, the unveiling ceremony of the first institute-level joint laboratory of the international campus, ZJUI-BJZH Futuristic Advanced Transportation Joint Laboratory, Yuantong Express, Supcon Student Practice Bases was held in the hall of the first floor of the Smart Urban Future Laboratory. Academician Lee Der-horng, Dean of ZJUI, Niu Ling, general manager of Beijiao Wisdom (Shandong) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Hong Yiwei, general manager of Yuantong Global Express Co., Ltd., Zhang Wei, Senior Vice President of Zhejiang SUPCON Information Technology Co., Ltd., Jin Wangping, Director of the office of Scientific Research and Technology Transfer Department of International Campus, Wu Hang, Director of the office of Student Affairs of International Campus, Prof. Ma Hao, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Wang Hongwei, Vice Dean of ZJUI, and representatives of relevant faculty members and students attended the ceremony.

Academician Lee Der-horng delivered a speech for the ceremony and expressed his heart-felt welcome and appreciation to the attending guests. He said that Beijiao Wisdom, Yuantong Express and Supcon are all top enterprises in the transportation and logistics industries. Through this cooperation, a good practice platform could be provided for students majoring in transportation and logistics of ZJUI, and also provide rich and effective ways for the development of intelligent transportation and intelligent logistics of the Smart Urban Future Laboratory. Academician Lee Der-horng pointed out that they can make better use of the advantages of university-enterprise resources to seek common development and achieve a win-win situation in the fields of student training and program co-construction by cooperating with these three enterprises.

Niu Ling, the general manager of Beijiao Wisdom, mentioned that ZJUI has world first- class research teams and innovation ability in fields including intelligent transportation, AI application, big data and other aspects, and masters the leading-edge technology of intelligent transportation development, and the Smart Urban Future Laboratory is also a comprehensive team integrating research ability and applied technology development. The establishment of the university-enterprise joint laboratory can take advantages of both sides, enable new technologies to be rapidly applied, and enable research to follow a more accurate direction. He firmly believes that through the cooperation between two sides, the joint laboratory can perform as a new highland of intelligent transportation technology and create a new benchmark for domestic intelligent transportation labs.

Hong Yiwei, the general manager of Yuantong Express, described the transformation of Yuantong from a labor-intensive enterprise to a digital enterprise based on the development of the domestic logistics industry over the past 20 years. He said that social enterprises like Yuantong Express need to rely on intelligent institutions to support its development, and Yuantong Express could provide a down-to-earth stage for students of Zhejiang University to make practical applications. He hopes that through the cooperation between the two sides, we can provide students with more, better and higher learning practices and employment platforms.
