The ZJUI Junior Faculty Teaching Exchange and Competition was held successfully in the afternoon of October 26th, 2023. The competition was intended to augment faculty teaching, encourage junior faculty to update education and teaching ideology, and improve teaching effects as well as education quality.
Prof. Lee Der-Horng, Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Jin Jianming, Executive Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Ma Hao, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Wang Hongwei, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Gehan Amaratunga, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK, Assoc Prof. Shao Fangwei, Assistant Dean of ZJUI, Assist Prof. Simon Hu, Assistant Dean of ZJUI, and Lu Qiang, Assist Dean of ZJUI, served as the judges of the competition. Assoc Prof. Shao Fangwei presided over the competition and introduced the content, scoring rules and order of the competition. Then, five junior faculty members presented their teaching designs and classroom teaching.

Although carried out in the name of competition, it is also an internal seminar on undergraduate teaching quality. During the competition, judges emphasized that we should pay attention to faculty-student interaction and collaborative exploration in the classroom, and fully consider the learning experience of students, to optimize teaching arrangements and enrich teaching content. Faculty should think and explore how to bring students into their classrooms to improve the inspiration and effectiveness of classroom teaching.

The competition can further stimulate faculty members' attention to teaching activities and classroom quality. In the future, we expect all ZJUI faculty members to constantly innovate teaching methods and techniques, activate the classroom, further improve the quality and level of English language teaching and education, and better help students grow and become future leaders.
After review, Assist Prof. Lin Yu and Assist Prof. Yang Hao (Howard) will represent ZJUI in the final of the 2023 Zhejiang University Junior Faculty Teaching Competition. We hope they can display their solid professional competence and high level of English teaching, demonstrating the significant achievements of ZJUI's international faculty team construction.
