From September 20th to 23rd, Prof. He Lianzhen, Vice President of Zhejiang University, led a delegation to visit the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the United States to further consolidate and promote cooperation between the two universities in student cultivation and research, and to deeply explore future cooperation and exchange directions. The delegation held meetings with Prof. Robert J. Jones, Chancellor of UIUC, Prof. John Coleman, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, Prof. Rashid Bashir, Dean of the Grainger College of Engineering. UIUC leaders warmly welcome the delegation from Zhejiang University. They stated that the two schools have a profound historical connection. Since 1987, they have conducted exchanges between scholars and students, and in 2002, they signed an inter-university cooperation memorandum. Through nearly 40 years of comprehensive communication and cooperation, they have formed a close, equal, and open partnership, which has achieved significant results. The cooperation between the two universities in running ZJUI has made the partnership even closer and more unique. UIUC is full of confidence in the prospects of cooperation between the two universities and stated that it will work with Zhejiang University to continuously deepen cooperation, expand cooperation areas, and jointly create a model of innovative and international cooperation in the global higher education field.

During the visit, the delegation from Zhejiang University held discussions with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering, and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UIUC Grainger College of Engineering on topics such as undergraduate education, research cooperation, and program operation, to discuss the next step of cooperation plans. The delegation also visited young faculty members from ZJUI who were currently training in UIUC and had a friendly exchange with them.
