In order to enhance faculty building, promote junior faculty to update education and teaching ideology, and improve teaching effects as well as talent training quality, the ZJUI Junior Faculty Teaching Exchange and Competition was held in the Engineering Building C207 on the evening of October 18th, 2021.

The competition was led by three main judges, Professor Fangwei Shao, Professor Tingju Zhu, and Professor Weeliat Ong who have rich teaching experience and remarkable teaching results, with other teachers at ZJUI marking collectively. The competition was hosted by Professor Fangwei Shao. Vice Dean Hao Ma and teacher representatives of ZJUI also attended the activity.

Professor Zuozhu Liu and Professor Gaoang Wang gave a lesson on “Machine Learning” that is a very popular lesson among senior college students. The two lessons of different concerns and teaching styles were complementary. Professor Zuozhu Liu used the application cases of Machine Learning as starting point and vividly answered the question of “What can machine learning do?”, enabling students to have a better understanding of the convenience of machine learning.

Professor Gaoang Wang laid his focus on the core knowledge system of machine learning and attached great importance to broadening students ’s horizons. He hoped that, after learning this course, students will learn about the “niche” of machine learning and think about their future career development.

Professor Chushan Li taught a special experiment course called “Digital Control System”, which  contains an experiment part and a profound theoretical basis. Professor Li explained the complicated concerning knowledge of TTL (Transistor Logic), System Verilog, FPGA design, as well as constructing and testing digital system in a simple way.

After review, Professor Chushan Li and Professor Zuozhu Liu won the first prize for their scientific curriculum design, exhaustive teaching cases, explicit teaching logic and intriguing class styles. Professor Cristoforo Demartino won the second prize. Professor Aili Wang and Gaoang Wang won the third prize.

ZJUI dedicated to leading junior faculty to pay attention to classes by serving as a platform for junior faculty enabling them to exchange their teaching styles so as to reinforce morality education, improve teaching basic ability, encourage teachers to actively adopt a multidisciplinary and innovative teaching ideology, implement ideological and political education, achieve training talent goals and enhance teaching ability.
