1 Overview

Juanhu International Academician Lecture Hall was established in 2023, by the Zhejiang University – University of IIIinois Urbana-Champaign Institute and the Haining Juanhu Science and Technology City. It was proposed by academician Lee Der-Horng, the dean of ZJU-UIUC INSTITUTE, aiming to invite academicians around the whole world to carry out theoretical presentations, academic seminars, talents training, scientific research, strategic planning and science communication etc. In this way, it is committed to building a high-quality brand activity in the construction of the science and technology innovation hub in the northern Hangzhou Bay and International Collaborative Education Models and contribute to the construction of International Collaborative Education Models.

Prof. Ling Wen is the distinguished professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University, expert in system engineering and energy engineering management, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Prof. Ling Wen has been committing to solve large-scale project management problems using system engineering theory. He has presided over more than ten major projects of coal-based energy projects. Among them, the 600MW supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler technology and the 4 million tons of coal-to-oil demonstration project won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, the coal development and utilization technology innovation project based on the integration of scientific and technological resources, the coordinated development technology on resources of 10 million tons of mine group and environment, as well as microbial remediation technology and application of land reclamation in arid and semi-arid coal mining areas in western China won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. Academician Ling Wen has made excellent contributions to enriching the theory and practice of system engineering and promoting industrial coordinated development. Furthermore, he has promoted the overall level of national coal safety, high efficiency, green development as well as clean transformation and utilization. Consequently, He won the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Industry-University-Research Collaboration in China" in the 14th Chinese Industry - University – Research Collaboration and Innovation Conference.


4 Abstract

In the lecture, Academician Ling Wen will share his experiences on accepts challenges, makes cross-border breakthroughs constantly, breaks the traditional thinking and integrates different theory systems, in the diversified development of society, . The journey of crossing over government, industry, university and finance is also a journey of exploring life boundaries.

Academician Ling Wen has made great achievements in the field of engineering, and has won more than 10 provincial and industrial awards, as well as over 30 domestic and foreign patents. Although his major is not about coal industry, he has solved large-scale energy engineering management problems by using system engineering theory and financial knowledge. In 2009, the "Technological Innovation Project of Coal Development and Utilization Based on the Integration of Scientific and Technological Resources" that he completed as the technical director won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and won this award again three years later. His research achievements have been widely used in various projects of the whole coal industry. As a result, he was granted as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015.
