Xiangming MENG
Position:
Assistant Professor
Introduction:
Dr. Xiangming Meng joined the ZJU-UIUC Institute as a tenure-track assistant professor from March 2023. Before that, he was a project assistant professor in The University of Tokyo, Japan from April 2022 to March 2023. He obtained his Ph.D. in information and communication engineering from Tsinghua University in 2016 and B.Eng in communication engineering from Xidian University in 2011. He was a senior research engineer at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. from 2016 to 2019. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Approximate Bayesian Inference team of RIKEN Advanced Intelligent Project (AIP), Japan from 2019 to 2020, and a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics, The University of Tokyo, Japan from 2020 to 2022, respectively.
Xiangming's interests are the intersection of machine learning, information theory, signal processing, and statistical mechanics, with a special focus on probabilistic graphical models, Bayesian inference, and learning algorithms. Recently, he has been particularly interested in deep generative models (e.g., diffusion models) as well as their applications in various inverse problems such as compressed sensing and image restoration, etc. His research works have been published in top journals and conferences such as IEEE JSAC, IEEE SPL, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, etc. He has been serving as the reviewer for top journals and conferences, including Statistics and Computing, IEEE TCOM, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, AAAI, AISTATS, etc.
