On the occasion of the 120th Anniversary of ZJU, ZJUI hosted a Symposium on Sino-Foreign Educational Cooperation Programs at the International Campus on May 19. Representatives of several Sino-Foreign cooperative education institutions in China attended, including those from the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute; the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; the University of Nottingham, Ningbo; Duke-Kunshan University; Glasgow College, University of Eletronic Science and Technology of China; International College, Renmin University of China.  

During the Symposium, Mr. Fu Qiang, Assistant President of ZJU and Vice Dean of the International Campus, briefed the audience on the status and future plans for the International Campus. He elaborated that“ZJU plays a leading role the high-level international educational cooperation with multiple overseas world-class universities,”and expressed hopes to strengthen exchanges and communication with the other Sino-Foreign cooperative education institutions to jointly solve common issues and address challenges.

Prof. Li Erping, Dean of ZJUI, briefed the audience on the education plans at ZJUI, elaborated on the ZJUI cross-disciplinary innovative engineering education model, and sought to leverage the Symposium and other platforms to draw on the experience of peer institutions to jointly explore pathways for international educational cooperation.

At the Symposium, representatives shared overviews and distinctive features of their respective institutions, as well as the difficulties and challenges. Zheng Gang, Associate Dean of the University of Michigan - Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute shared their teaching quality control and monitoring measures. Zhang Shaofeng, Admission and Employment Division Chief of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, briefed the audience on Liberal Arts Education and their experience in creating college culture. He expressed the hope that Sino-Foreign cooperative education institutions in China would strengthen their cooperation in the enrollment of international students. Li Hui, Senior Advisor to Chancellors of Duke Kunshan University, introduced the cross-disciplinary research centers at Duke Kunshan University. Chen Wei, Associate Dean of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) reflected on practices for student active learning.

At the Symposium, 13 Sino-Foreign cooperative educational institution representatives shared their experience on international higher educational cooperation, discussed models for cooperative development, addressed sustainable operations, and discussed how to enhance educational features and international impact.
