April 25, ZJUI Associate Professor Wee-liat Ong publish an article on the website of the World Economic Forum titled “Hydrogen power is here to stay. How do we convince the public that it’s safe?”, this article showed the public attitudes toward the safety of hydrogen power based on an anonymous social media survey and analyzed the reasons for the public's choice. It also indicated that “hydrogen is safer than most commonly used fuels” from three aspects. First one is the hydrogen needs a higher minimum concentration than most common fuels to burn. Second, hydrogen requires more air. Third, hydrogen’s auto-igniting temperature is higher than most common fuels. This article was written collaboratively by Prof. Ong and Bart Kolodziejczyk, Research Fellow, Monash University.

         The World Economic Forum (WEF),  based in Cologny-Geneva, Switzerland, nicknamed with "Davos", was founded in 1971 as a not-for-profit organization. Its website contains not only business but also regional, and industry things. It often focus on the forefront of industry development, and sometimes play the role of a weathervane.

         Prof.Ong received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in 2015 and joined ZJUI as an associate professor since January 2018, his research interest include Nanoscale Heat Transfer, BioMEMS, Energy.
