Recently, Department of Education of Zhejiang Province announced the “University Students Outside-School Practical Education Base List”. After being recommended by Zhejiang University (ZJU) and approved by Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, the initiative “ZJU-Eaton Practical Education Base” conducted by ZJUI’s Vice Dean, Prof. Ma Hao successfully made itself onto the list.
“ZJU-Eaton Practical Education Foundation” is a collaboration between Zhejiang University-University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI) and Eaton (China) Investment Company to establish a practical education base. This practical base’s objective is to integrate production with education, to build school-enterprise based collaboration, to catalyze college-level education deep development, and to strengthen students’ practical and innovative skills.
Being a global company in power management, Eaton strives to provide its users with safe and effective resolutions regarding electricity, fluid dynamics and mechanical power management. In 2018, Eaton total sales reached a total of 21.6 billion USD and has over 100,000 staff all over the world. Eaton’s products were sold in more than 175 countries and areas and has branch office in Shanghai as well as innovative centers. Eaton and ZJU have always maintained a close mutual relationship with working on research projects together and Eaton providing internship opportunities for students of ZJU. Since 2017, ZJUI has been sending students over to Eaton for summer enterprise research programs and internships. In 2019 alone, there was 25 students from ZJUI who joined Eaton for practical opportunities.
ZJUI has always been pushing for practical education and emphasizes on students innovative and creative skills. With this principle, ZJUI proactively works with elite enterprises and companies to build practical education bases. Via the establishing of such projects, ZJUI encourages the nurturing of talents together with the industry. ZJUI’s relentless pursuit towards combining production, learning and research; enterprise collaboration and benevolent cooperation is educating its students to be holistic individuals, hence resulting in an overall positive growth of ZJUI.
