Delegation from Imperial College London Visited ZJUI for Future Collaboration

On November 5th of 2019, three guests from Imperial College London visited International Campus(IC), Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University-University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI). The delegation includes Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Deputy Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Imperial, and Director of Energy Future Lab, Prof. Tim Green and other scholars. The delegation came to discuss about future possibilities of setting up collaborative laboratories, conducting research projects and nurturing young talents with ZJUI. The meeting between Imperial College London and ZJUI was a fruitful and productive one, as Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Li Erping, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Ma Hao, Director of Office of Scientific Research and Technology Transfer of IC, Dr. Xu Yadan, faculty members from ZJUI electrical program Prof. Li Chushan, Faculty members from ZJU College of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Li Wu Hua were present for the exchange.  

Upon their arrival to the IC, the delegation of Imperial College London took a tour around the campus. They visited ZJUI’s engineering building, ZJUI’s laboratory building and some of the electrical-related labs as well as the school compound. ZJUI’s impressive facilities and scenic view were applauded by Prof. Green and his colleagues. After Dean Li extended his warmest welcome to the guests and shared a little bit about ZJUI’s young history and current development, Prof. Green also gave a big picture of Imperial College London and the direction that Imperial is currently moving towards in the field of electrical, electronics and data science research. Both universities then discussed on how they would realize international collaboration in terms of academic research. After some meaningful discussion, Imperial and ZJUI successfully reached a first-stage agreement on several key elements, including the collaboration structure, faculties that will be involved in the collaboration as well as the fields to be collaborated.    

Dean Li continues to express ZJUI’s vision and sincere hopes to establish a collaborative partnership with Imperial College London in the future, so to work together in the fields of energy sources, informatics etc. Dean Li says, will strive towards students exchange with Imperial such that its students can benefit from these programs and expand their knowledge globally.
