From August 27 to 29, the Solid-State Transformer and Magnetic Component Technology Summit Forum and the 12th Youth Salon of the China Power Supply Society (CPSS) was held in Haining, Zhejiang. The event was jointly initiated by the Zhejiang University-University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI), the CPSS Youth Working Committee, Tiantong Holdings Co., Ltd., and the Zhejiang Power Supply Society.
Focusing on key technologies and the commercialization of solid-state transformers (SSTs) and magnetic components, the forum convened experts from leading universities, research institutions, and industry. Discussions spanned SST architectures, high-frequency magnetic components, power semiconductor devices, insulation and reliability, and engineering applications, with the goal of addressing critical power-delivery challenges for AI data centers (AIDCs), strengthening academia-industry collaboration, and accelerating the engineering and commercial deployment of SST technologies.
Attendees included Professor Ma Hao of the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Vice President of CPSS and President of the Zhejiang Power Supply Society, Zheng Xiaobin, Chairman of Tiantong Holdings Co., Ltd., Associate Professor Weeliat Ong, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Professor Zhang Li, Chair of the CPSS Youth Working Committee, Associate Professor Li Chushan of ZJUI, as well as experts and industry representatives from leading universities, research institutions, and companies.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Ma Hao, Chairman Zheng Xiaobin, Associate Professor Weeliat Ong, and Professor Zhang Li delivered remarks, congratulating on the opening of the forum and expressing their expectations for further advances in solid-state transformer technologies, closer academia-industry collaboration, and accelerated industrialization amid the rapid development of AIDCs. They also expressed the hope that the forum would serve as a platform for deeper exchange and cooperation and help advance key technological breakthroughs and technology transfer. The ceremony was chaired by Associate Professor Li Chushan.

The technical sessions were chaired by Associate Professor Li Chushan and Professor Xiang Xin of the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Associate Professor Zhang Xiangyu of North China Electric Power University, and Associate Professor Chen Guipeng of Xiamen University, respectively. More than a dozen invited speakers from academia and industry presented recent advances in AIDC power architectures, SST system design and control, high-frequency magnetic materials, insulation reliability, power semiconductor devices, and engineering applications.
The forum also featured a roundtable discussion on major barriers to SST commercialization, advances in magnetic materials, co-design across devices, materials, and systems, and the practical requirements of AIDC deployment. Participants explored ways to improve system efficiency, power density, and reliability while accelerating the transition from laboratory research to scalable industrial applications.
University and industry visits were also organized to foster direct exchange between research teams and companies and to identify opportunities for future collaboration.
Covering the full SST technology chain from architectures and magnetic materials to semiconductor devices, control, insulation, and engineering deployment, the forum served as a platform for closer collaboration between academia and industry. Moving forward, participants will continue to drive coordinated innovation across materials, devices, and systems to support the development of next-generation AIDCs and advanced power systems.
