Li Xiaoman, class of 2026 in Electrical Engineering at ZJUI, received National Scholarship for three consecutive years. He is also a member of the Zhejiang University Track and Field Team, winning four gold medals at the Zhejiang University Sports Meet. In addition, he has served as President of the Yuehai Instrumental Music Association and Leader of the Galaxy Island Band. In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and extracurricular involvement, he was selected as one of the Students of Distinction at the International Campus, Zhejiang University. Upon completing his undergraduate studies, he will pursue his doctoral degree at the College of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang University, conducting research in the field of electronic information.
Upon entering university, Li Xiaoman focused on building a solid academic foundation. Aware that he needed time to adapt to university-level coursework, he prioritized steady progress and gradually adjusted to ZJUI’s learning environment that emphasizes independent study and cross-disciplinary thinking. As coursework became more demanding, he learned to apply knowledge from multiple courses to practical problem-solving, which led to a growing interest in electronic information as his primary academic focus.

During an overseas exchange program, Li Xiaoman gained structured research training and experience across the research process, from literature review to experimental validation. In the summer of his junior year, he joined Prof. Shen Chunhua’s research group at the State Key Laboratory of Computer-Aided Design and Computer Graphics, Zhejiang University, working on embodied intelligence and vision-language model (VLM) reasoning.
At the early stage of the project, he began with foundational tasks and encountered challenges such as debugging failures and unsatisfactory experimental results. Through continuous communication with his supervisor and peers, he gradually took on greater responsibilities and played a central role as first author in the project TINKER: Diffusion’s Gift to 3D, which addresses the disconnect between 2D and 3D editing. The research required both solid theoretical grounding and strong engineering skills. Li Xiaoman was involved in the full workflow, including dataset construction, model design, experimental validation, and optimization, undergoing multiple rounds of iteration and testing.
During the summer, he lived near Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University, to reduce commuting time and often worked late in the laboratory. While the demanding schedule exposed him to the pressures of academic research, successive breakthroughs strengthened his commitment to research.

Beyond academics, athletics and music play an important role in his life. As a member of the Zhejiang University Track and Field Team, he has won six gold and two silver medals in competitions, participating in events such as the 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, and relay races. Since his sophomore year, systematic training in the 400-meter hurdles has strengthened his focus and resilience, qualities he finds directly applicable to research.

Music is equally important to him. As the Leader of the Galaxy Island Band and President of the Yuehai Instrumental Music Association, Li Xiaoman has actively participated in campus performances and live music events. Music provides him with a means of expression and reflection, helping him maintain long-term focus amid the demands of academic life.
