The ZJUI Junior Faculty Teaching Exchange and Competition was held successfully in the afternoon of October 22nd, 2024. The competition was intended to augment teaching, encourage junior faculty to update education and teaching ideology, and improve teaching effects as well as education quality.

Prof. Der-Horng Lee, Dean of ZJUI, Prof. Ma Hao, Vice Dean of ZJUI, Assoc Prof. Shao Fangwei, Prof. Zhu Tingju, Assist Prof. Wang Gao’ang, and Assist Prof. Li Binbin served as the judges of the competition. Junior faculty members demonstrated their teaching skills in terms of teaching designs, classroom teaching, etc.

During the competition, the judges pointed out that ZJUI faculty should conduct rigorous academic research, and strictly implement the English-medium instruction, and pay attention to the accuracy, fluency, and standardization of English language usage. In addition, the judges emphasized the need to fully consider students' learning interests and experiences, and to enhance classroom attractiveness and teaching inspiration through richer and more vivid content such as pictures and videos. Faculty should actively create immersive interactive classrooms to effectively improve teaching effectiveness.

This teaching competition helps junior faculty to reflect on teaching methods and content, further stimulating their attention to teaching quality. At the same time, the competition provides a platform for junior faculty to communicate and learn from each other, complement each other's strengths and weaknesses, and jointly improve their teaching level. In the future, we hope that all ZJUI faculty can continuously optimize teaching methods, enrich teaching content, further improve classroom teaching effectiveness, and pool efforts to do a good job in undergraduate education and teaching evaluation with high standards and quality.

After review, Assoc Prof. Chen Piao and Assist Prof. Cheng Yushi will represent ZJUI in the final of the 2024 Zhejiang University Junior Faculty Teaching Competition. We hope they can display their solid professional competence and high-level teaching. Wish them good results in the final!
