The "Global Classroom International Collaboration Program" commenced on May 20 at International Campus, ZJU. More than 20 undergraduates from UIUC,students and faculty from ZJU joined together to embark on a two-week study and research journey.

HE Lianzhen, Chair of the ZJU-UIUC Joint Management Committee extended a warm welcome to the students participating in the program. She highlighted that as a socially responsible and globally minded higher education institution, Zhejiang University has always been making contributions to global sustainable development, with remarkable achievements made in fields like scientific research, student cultivation and public engagement. She encouraged students to immerse themselves deeply in all those interdisciplinary curriculums and hands-on experience, to learn from one another, to forge lasting friendships between ZJU and UIUC.

Der-Horng Lee, Dean of ZJUI, expressed his admiration for the students’ awareness of their duty and responsibility to global issues. He encouraged all participants to approach this with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to collaboration in engineering, enrich personal experiences, and expand both academic knowledge and appreciation for our diverse world.

The "Global Classroom International Collaboration Program" is an initiative program launched in 2024 and is listed as one of the recommended projects on the "Young Envoys Scholarship" website. This program originated from Engineering orientation course (ENG 100 - Engineering Orientation) at ZJUI since 2020. More than 400 freshmen from UIUC and ZJU focused on cutting-edge engineering technologies, expanded their engineering perspectives, and exchanged pioneering ideas with academic and industry experts, discussed innovation and entrepreneurship in this course. This program allows students to explore innovative solutions and practices that contribute to a more sustainable future,and to explore global collaborations and different cultures at ZJU.
