Assistant Professor

Qingchun Hou received the Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University in 2021, working with Prof Chongqing Kang. He was a visiting PhD in University of Washington from 2019 to 2020, working with Prof. Daniel Kirschen. He obtained the B.S. degree from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2016. He worked as an Algorithm Expert with Alibaba Group from 2021 to 2024, leading a team to develop AI-based combinatorial optimization solver (Laser) for digital supply chain and e-commerce platform. His research interests encompass AI and optimization, along with their applications in power systems, smart grids, logistics, and supply chains. Currently, his work centers around neural combinatorial optimization and data-driven power system operation and planning under high renewable energy penetration. He was the recipient of the Advanced Technology Talent Program “AliStar” of Alibaba. His work was published on TOP Journals (Proceedings of IEEE, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, etc.) and TOP AI conferences (ICLR, etc.). He works as a reviewer for TOP conferences and Journals, such as ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, AAAI, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, etc. In addition, he is currently recruiting PhD students, Postdocs, and Research Assistant in the fields of Electrical Engineering or Artificial Intelligence.
