Abstract:

Numerical simulation software, developed from the computational electromagnetic methods (CEM), has become an essential tool in the design of modern information devices. However, a new competition round of the theory innovation and application expansion of classical CEM is being triggered, as the rapid development of interdisciplinary science and the coming of second quantum revolution. The pioneers will be able to seize the major international market shares of the next-generation simulation platform and lead the industry upgrade of the intelligent manufacture of information devices. In this new round of information competition, the multiphysics computational methods play a key role, thus have attracted remarkable amounts of interest. In this talk, three multiphysics computational models and their applications will be presented. (i) To solve the multipactor challenge in miniaturization of high-power microwave (HPM) devices, a novel FDTD-PIC hybrid method is developed to model the interaction between EM waves and charged particles. (ii) To develop a computer-aided-design tool for quantum photoelectric devices, a powerful FDTD-TDDFT model is proposed to bridge the classical EM world and the marvelous quantum world. (iii) To explore the extraordinary features of nonlinear photoelectric devices and topological photonics, a high-performance GS-FDTD approach based on the modeling of nonlinear optics is introduced.
