Zhipei Liang: Dr. Zhi-Pei Liang received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1989. He subsequently joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) first as a postdoctoral fellow (working with the late Nobel Laureate Paul Lauterbur) and then as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Liang is currently the Franklin W. Woeltge Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Dr. Liang’s research is in the general area of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, ranging from spin physics, signal processing, machine learning, to biomedical applications. Research from his group has received a number of recognitions, including the Sylvia Sorkin Greenfield Award (Medical Physics, 1990), Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Research Award (1991), NSF CAREER Award (1995), Henry Magnuski Scholar Award (UIUC, 1999), University Scholar Award (UIUC, 2001), Isidor I. Rabi Award (International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2009), IEEE-EMBC Best Paper Awards (2010, 2011), IEEE-ISBI Best Paper Award (2010, 2015), Otto Schmitt Award (International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering, 2012), and Technical Achievement Award (IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2014). Dr. Liang is a Fellow of the IEEE, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He was elected to the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2012. Zuozhu Liu: Dr. Zuozhu Liu is currently assistant professor of ZJU-UIUC institute, adjunct assistant professor at UIUC ECE and Stomatology Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and acting vice director of ZJU-Angelalign R&D Center for Intelligent Healthcare. Zuozhu's research interests mainly lie at Artificial Intelligence, AI for Healthcare and Medical Image Analysis etc. Before joining ZJU, he was a Postdoc Research Fellow at the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability, National University of Singapore with Prof. Alexandre Thiery. He received his PhD degree from Singapore University of Technology and Design in 2019 (supervisors: Prof. Tony QS Quek (IEEE Fellow), Prof. Shaowei LIN), and B.Eng from Zhejiang University, College of Information Science and Electrical Engineering(2015). During his undergraduate and PhD studies, he visited and worked at the University of Notre Dame, the AIP Center at RIKEN in Japan (with Dr. Emtiyaz Khan), and the AI unicorn Preferred Networks Inc in Tokyo, etc. His research works are published in top journals and conferences such as IEEE JSTSP, IEEE Trans Commun, IEEE IoT J, ICCV, AAAI, EMNLP, ACL, J. 5. Eligibility
1) Ph.D. degree (graduated or will defense soon) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, and other related fields.
2) Strong interest and experience in Artificial Intelligence, Brain Science, Medical Image Analysis or other related areas.
3) A good publications list at the last 3 years.
4) Strong English communication skills.
5) Have passion for research, be responsible, have a spirit of teamwork and good communication skills.
6) Under 35 years old, and in good health.
6. Wages and Benefits
1）Academic environment:
International and multidisciplinary research environment.
2）Remuneration (Annual Package RMB 350,000-550,000):
I. No less than RMB 150,000 to 300,000 yuan of annual salary provided by the institute and lab,
II. Plus RMB 150,000 or 200,000 yuan per year of subsidy by Haining municipal government according to credentials,
III. Plus additional RMB 100,000 yuan per year for each successful applicant of “Boxin”(a national support program for outstanding postdoctoral researchers).
3) Research conditions:
I. Research program fund provided by supervisors,
II. A one-time start-up fund of RMB 100,000 or 200,000 by Haining municipal government according to credentials,
III. Recommendation for national/provincial scientific research projects with additional financial support.
4) Other support:
Preferential policy of renting fully furnished apartment. Enrollment of children in preferred local schools. Fine medical services provided by the two branch sections of the affiliated hospitals of ZJU in the neighborhood of the Campus.
5) Career development:
Recommendation to tenure/tenure-track position at ZJUI upon completion of postdoctoral work. Eligible for Haining local employment support of RMB 300,000 yuan in three years, and cash subsidy equivalent to 40 m2 of first housing purchased locally.
