ZJUI - Postdoctoral Fellowship Recruitment - Prof. Said Mikki Group
Date:07/01/2022

1. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Technologies

Prof. Said Mikki’s group at Zhejiang University (ranked in top 3 universities in China) has an open postdoc position on quantum technologies. The project aims to develop new approaches to integrating electromagnetic theory, methods, and devices with quantum physics for novel applications in quantum communications, sensing, informational processing, and advanced materials.

Project background and aim:

The exact details and the scope of the project will be determined based on the candidate’s specific expertise. In general, the aim is to devise methods to integrate electromagnetics and quantum physics for the analysis and design of new generations of devices, materials, and systems, such as quantum antennas for quantum communication systems, quantum circuits for quantum information processing, quantum metamaterials, and novel realizations of quantum computing and sensing devices. In this project, the initial focus is on the computational and the fundamental side but there are avenues for experimental and lab-oriented extension of the work both within campus and in collaboration with related research groups.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field. The candidates should have experience in both theory (e.g., quantum physics, electromagnetic theory, condensed-matter physics, quantum computing, quantum optics) and computational methods (coding numerical methods using one of the main languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, FORTRAN, JULIA, or any standard scientific computing package). Candidates who also have experimental experience are also encouraged to apply.

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Electromagnetics for 6G Wireless Technology

Prof. Said Mikki’s group at Zhejiang University (ranked in top 3 universities in China) has an open postdoc position on computational electromagnetics. The project aims to develop new approaches to integrating electromagnetic theory, methods, and devices with state-of-the-art modern communication systems, sensing, informational processing, especially for the 6G Wireless technology.

Project background and aim:

The exact details and the scope of the project will be determined based on the candidate’s specific expertise. In general, the aim is to devise methods to integrate electromagnetics and wireless communications for the analysis and design of new generations of transmit/receive arrays in conjunction with specialized signal processing with machine learning and AI functionalities added based on the electromagnetic modeling of the system. Examples include capacity-driven electromagnetic analysis and design, electromagnetic approaches to information theory, physics-informd neural networks and machine learning, and intelligent electromagnetic agent design. In this project, the initial focus is on the computational and the fundamental side but there are avenues for experimental and lab-oriented extension of the work both within campus and in collaboration with related research groups.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have a PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related field. The candidates should have experience in both theory (electromagnetics, basic communications systems) and computational methods (coding numerical methods using one of the main languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, FORTRAN, JULIA, or any standard scientific computing package). Candidates who have experimental experience are also encouraged to apply.

3. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Signal Processing/Machine Learning for 6G Wireless Technology

Prof. Said Mikki’s group at Zhejiang University (ranked in top 3 universities in China) has an open postdoc position on signal processing. The project aims to develop new approaches to integrating signal processing, machine learning methods, and AI with 6G wireless platforms and possible applications to MIMO, sensing, and near-field communications.

Project background and aim:

The exact details and the scope of the project will be determined based on the candidate’s specific expertise. In general, the aim is to devise physics-informed, data-driven signal processing methods to integrate electromagnetics and wireless communications for the analysis and design of new generations of transmit/receive arrays in conjunction with specialized signal processing with machine learning and AI functionalities added based on the electromagnetic modeling of the system. In this project, the initial focus is on the computational and the fundamental side but there are avenues for experimental and lab-oriented extension of the work both within campus and in collaboration with related research groups.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have a PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related field. The candidates should have experience in both theory (signal processing, machine learning, data-driven algorithm design) and computational methods (coding numerical methods using one of the main languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, FORTRAN, JULIA, or any standard scientific computing package). Candidates who have experimental experience are also encouraged to apply.

4. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Nanoelectronics for Post-CMOS Technology

Prof. Said Mikki’s group at Zhejiang University (ranked in top 3 universities in China) has an open postdoc position in computational nanoelectronics. The project aims to develop new approaches to post-CMOS computing technology, including, for example, nano-transistors, molecular transistors, neuromorphic computing, and organic electronics.

Project background and aim:

The exact details and the scope of the project will be determined based on the candidate’s specific expertise. In general, the aim is to devise methods to develop new generations of nanoscale and quantum electronic devices and computing paradigms that go beyond standard CMOS microchips. Some of the other possible topics include using nonequilibrium Green’s functions (NEGF) in nonstandard environments and also devising post-NEGF methods. Also of interest is investigating electromagnetic compatibility and radiation effects in modern and nanoscale chips. In this project, the initial focus is on the computational and the fundamental side but there are avenues for experimental and lab-oriented extension of the work both within campus and in collaboration with related research groups.

Eligibility:

Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field. The candidates should have experience in both theory (electronics, nanoscale science, computing technologies) and computational methods (coding numerical methods using one of the main languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, FORTRAN, JULIA, or any standard scientific computing package). Candidates who have experimental experience are also encouraged to apply.
