ZJUI Assistant Professor Wei Liu has been awarded with“Best Paper Award" at Roomvent 2018, which took place from June 2nd to 5th at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. The Roomvent, organized by the ASHRAE ( American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers), is an international conference focusing on new technology and ventilations strategies for low energy, passive houses and zero emission buildings as well as energy efficient ventilation in the built environment as such.
In his laureled paper, "A novel diagnostic technology for air infiltration in buildings using an infrared camera", Dr. Liu discusses how thermographic image of a building envelope produced by an infrared camera and the measured indoor/outdoor air parameters (velocity, temperature, and pressure) were used to identify the effective crack size and air infiltration rate by means of theoretical heat transfer and fluid mechanics analyses.
Dr. Liu joined the ZJUI as a full-time Assistant Professor on October 1, 2017. He has currently published 34 journal papers with his research interests primarily on simulation and measurement of airflow and contaminant dispersion in enclosed spaces, such as buildings and airplanes. In addition, he was a recipient of an ASHRAE Grant-in-Aid Award, won the first prize in an ASHRAE computational-fluid-dynamics shootout contest, and was a Bilsland Dissertation Fellow at Purdue University.
